Having professed her love for the Lord with a deep desire to know him more, Jacqueline Marie Smith, 63, died on September 17, 2021.
Lovingly known as Jackie, she was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1976. After completing high school, she joined the U.S. Army serving for 13 active years followed by four years in the Army Reserve. She was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, who loved to travel and cherished her extended stay in Germany and brief tours in Southeast Asia and Panama, which afforded her the opportunity to travel to many different parts of the world, making lifetime memories and friends along the way. A true soldier, affectionately named G.I. Jane by family, Jackie was a member of the Lts. Armstrong-Gladding, RI Post 69, American Legion, where she served as adjutant.
Employed by IGT for the past ten years until her passing, Jackie was a valued employee and friend to her co-workers. She referred to her current and past IGT team members as her “IGT babies” and made sure they knew they were loved. They in return knew her as their “Momma Bear.”
Jackie never met a stranger, as she made every person whom she came in contact with feel like family, always having a kind word for everyone. She made people feel special in her own way. Jackie cherished life, wore her heart on her sleeve, and will forever be known for her tagline “I love you, baby.”
Born in Yonkers, New York, from an early age Jackie was raised in Providence, Rhode Island. She was predeceased by her parents Doris Estella and Arthur Silas Halloway and John Peter Smith.
One of the most loving, caring, compassionate, and straight forward mothers, she loved her children and grandchildren with every fiber of her being. If you ever held a conversation with Jackie, you knew how proud she was of her babies.
She leaves behind, to cherish her memories her children—most beloved daughter and son Courtney A. Price and Creg A. Brown, both of North Providence, RI, and her self-adopted daughter Akia Tillery of Buffalo, NY. Grandchildren Armani A. Him, Johan J. Brown, and Trinity Height. Brothers and sisters Brenda Greenbaum of Fort Lauderdale, Fl, Pamela Smith of Cranston, Paula Penelton (Charles) of Riverside, Anthony Smith (Rhonda) of Providence, Denise Smith of East Providence, Kim Omaro (Derrick) of Yonkers, NY, Karen Williams of New Rochelle, NY, and Serena Halloway of Providence. Jackie was preceded by her brother Stephen Lewis Smith and grandparents Carl and Lena Lewis.
