John Williams was born on March 29, 1929, in NYC. He went home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2023, at Brentwood Nursing Rehab Center.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Avis, 12 sisters and brothers, and a daughter, Mamie.
He is survived by his four children, Francine, Carl, Barry, and Sandra, son-in-law Phillip, his loving wife of 21 years, Florence Conard-Williams and her children Sharon and Harold, and son-in-law, Roy. John is also survived by 17 grand and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John had a very full life, working in various professions, including serving in the Army and being an amateur boxer. He was a Pastor and also worked as a chef. He excelled in many things, such as carpentry, plumbing, boiler repair, and technology. He was a prolific writer of poetry and essays and a music buff. He retired from Willowbrook State School as a Registered Nurse. John loved to drive, dance, fish, and garden, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed playing jokes on people. He loved working with his hands and with tools. He made friends everywhere he went.
