Rose Adjeley Adjei

May 19, 1940 ~ April 26, 2020 (age 79)

It is with heartfelt gratitude that we celebrate the life and homegoing of Rose Adjeley Adjei, on Sunday April 26, 2020 in Warwick, Rhode Island. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

Born May 19, 1940 in Labadi, Ghana, she is the oldest daughter of the late Emmanuel Seth Adjei Obedekah and Margaret Manieson Obedekah.

Known as Sister Rose to those closest to her, she will be remembered as a selfless mother, a dedicated sister and aunt, a devoted friend and a devout servant of Jehovah. She was actively involved with the Beach Road Central Congregation located in Accra, Ghana and also well known within her community at Regimanuel Estate, Ghana.

Sister Rose possessed a quiet strength, she never complained, and always set her ambitions high. You could not find a more passionate supporter who was always there to lend a hand or share the many jewels of wisdom she had collected along her life journey. She loved her family, her community and engaging in political debates with anyone who dared to challenge her position or her party, the NDC. She was a lifelong entrepreneur who believed in the power of her independence and her ability to sustain the needs of those who depended on her or looked to her in their time of need.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.” Psalms 23:1-6

Sister Rose was predeceased by her parents, Emmanuel and Margaret Adjei Obedekah, brother Benjamin Adjetey Adjei Obedekah, and daughter Aberkah Ammah.

She is survived by her brother, Daniel Ablorh Adjei; sister, Beatrice Sowah; three children, John Kweku Eshun, Margaret Araba Eshun-Maxwell and Comfort Fenua Ammah-Malouf; inlaws; Toi Eshun and Cecyl Malouf; adopted children, Akai Abram, Abena Danso,Ebo Kobby; Grandchildren, Gerald Maxwell, Udele Eshun, Melvin Maxwell, Zada Eshun, Zuri Eshun, Ewuraama Eshun, and Esi Eshun; Nephew, Francis Adjei, Henry, Robert, Ebenezer and Godfred Sowah; Nieces Victoria Obedekah, Solar Adjei, Lucinda and Esther Sowah; cousins, Alex Odonkor and Odoi Manieson; and extended relatives and friends.

To My Children Kweku, Araba, and Fenua Do not weep for me in my absence, You know I was never the crying type. Instead pray for my safe passage into the afterlife. I am safe with my maker, mother and father now. I’m laughing with my brother Ben and playing with Aberkah. They all missed me deeply, just as I miss you. We are all together now in the sky’s forever blue. Please keep our family’s torch forever shining bright. You are my forever loves, my eternal life.
